The Speed Handle (Stryker Spine)
Stryker is a leader in creating surgical instruments that make surgery more efficient, reduce trauma and improve techniques. Insync Design has been working closely with Stryker on engineering, designing and producing manufacturing drawings for several surgical tools over the years.
From redesigning the entire XIA III handle line to refining and engineering their spine and ortho devices, Insync has been a valued partner.
One example is the speed driver. Insync Design engineered and improved Stryker’s concept of a 1:2 input to output turn ratio medical screwdriver used in spinal surgery. A peanut shape enveloping two gears minimized the entire housing, gave a comfortable grip, reduced its overall weight and maximized the viewing angle for the surgeon. A CNC prototype was provided by Insync and used in cadaver testing.
